Collaborative Post Adoption Services Project Update

Foster and adoptive families shared laughs and good times at the first CPAS weekend retreat of 2007 at Camp Calumet. It was also the first retreat including foster families given the recent change in CPAS eligibility criteria. Families that have adopted kids and families who are newly licensed foster parents were able to share their stories and learn from each other. The weather was 70 degrees and sunny in early January! Kids went on a “geo-cache” treasure hunt as well as playing broomball, basketball and other activities. As always, the food was wonderful - don’t expect to lose weight ! Couples who attended this recent CPAS retreat has this to say:
“I can’t tell you how much this seminar helped me-Strong relationships within marriage will enable us to be better foster parents.”
“The CPAS Retreat was a great experience because you were able to meet a lot of special people who are willing to change their life to help many children. I was able to hear about their adventures.”
“I felt the workshop was very educational. There were a lot of helpful things discussed and just being around other people dealing with the same issues was nice.”
If you can’t commit for a weekend away, we also offer the workshop in a one day format at the Concord office of Casey Family Services with childcare available.
