Granite State College News

Have You Been Counted?
We have reached 2007, and the Education and Training Partnership (E&TP) at Granite State College is pleased to look back on another wonderful year supporting children and families. In collaboration with the NH Division for Children, Youth and Families, and so many foster and adoptive families, 2006 was a tremendously successful year.
To help illustrate, during calendar year 2006:
Caregiver Ongoing Training
122 classes were run throughout the State
Almost 1,200 registrations were taken for these classes
Over 400 foster parents, adoptive parents, and non-licensed relatives
12 Foster and Adoptive Care EssentialS - This year marked the introduction of Foster and Adoptive Care Essentials (FACES) the newly revised “pre-service” curriculum for prospective caregivers.
Almost 700 individuals attended classes
Approximately 2,700 registrations were received
These numbers broke many records
To Date:
Over 5,000 unduplicated individuals have taken classes
Over 3,700 parents have attended training
During 2006, the E&TP continued to work hard at assessing the training needs of caregivers, and working to update or create new trainings that are relevant and interesting. Don’t forget to sign-up for the winter classes, by going to our website (www.granite.edu/etp). Here are just a few of the classes that will be offered this term:
Unlocking Children’s Learning Styles, 0.6 CEU Laconia, NH
The Challenging Adolescent: Strategies That Work, 1 Credit Bedford, NH
Effective Parenting: From Chaos to Cooperation, 1.2 CEU Concord, NH
Mas Espanol, 2.4 CEU Offered via Distance Learning
On-Demand Training Verification
Requests on the Rise
In the past Foster Parents have had the option of retrieving their own training verification records, on-line by accessing “Web-for-Student”. Unfortunately Web-for Student is no longer available. Granite State College has moved to a system similar to UNH’s, KSC’s and PSU’s. It is an expanded version limited to students taking college-credit courses (“Web Rock”).
E&TP staff would like to accommodate individuals by searching for grade records upon request, however it is a time consuming process and the E&TP does not have enough resources to offer this service.
Training verifications / grades are mailed to participants within 6 weeks after the completion of a course. We ask that you keep them in a safe place until you need them.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you!
